RWG Mobile have received confirmation that in January, a nationwide programme will begin of retiring 3G services.

Decommissioning of 3G services will happen on a region-by-region basis around the UK, at pace, to remove 3G coverage.

Each impacted region will continue to offer 2G, 4G and 5G services (if available), meaning customers will maintain call, data, and SMS functionality. For the avoidance of doubt, customers will have to rely on their device falling back to 2G services for voice calls, which will disrupt any ongoing 4G/5G data sessions.

Customers who have an active voice call will not be able to browse the internet at the same time. This will impact customers until the launch of VoLTE and VoWiFi services which will be live later this year.

Best wishes
